Just a quick reminder that registration for Expeditious 2010 closes May 7 at 11:59pm EST. There are tickets still available for the conference, and Melissa Anelli’s Keynote Speech, so get your tickets before Friday!

If you’re going to be seeing StarKid’s A Very Potter Sequel, this is a great way to round out a full weekend of Potter Fun!

Also, in case you missed our announcement on Twitter…Yes! There will be Wizard Rock at Expeditious! Our afternoon show will contain some of the best new acts in Wizard Rock, I Speak Tree and Undesirable #1, along with long-time fandom favorite, The Butterbeer Experience! Expeditious’ finale ball will not just include the best dance tunes, but also live performances from The Remus Lupins and a full-band performance from Ann Arbor local WizRockers Tonks & the Aurors! You definitely shouldn’t miss these performances!

Bringing together many different aspects of the Harry Potter community is our number one goal for Expeditious, and we have tried to find presenters that illustrate how diverse our fandom is.

Keeping all of this in mind, Expeditious 2010 is excited to announce that Melissa Anelli will be our Keynote speaker! Melissa is the webmistress of LeakyNews.com and the Author of Harry, A History which chronicles the journey of the Harry Potter fandom. Tickets for Melissa’s keynote will cost $5, but people with Early Bird registrations will be given a FREE ticket to the event!

Expeditious has also invited featured presenters to cover canon discussion, wizard rock, and cosplay! These featured presenters will be Travis Prinzi of theHogsHead.org, Freya Fridy of the Wizrocklopedia.com, and costumer Wendy Moy Ransom. These featured presentations are free with registration and will range from round tables, to panel discussions, to even some hands-on work.

Discounted, early bird registrations are $50, but the price will go up February 15! Our room block is located HERE and expires April 12…or until the block is sold out

There IS a limit to how many people can attend Expeditious due to the fire code regulation on our ballroom. I WILL be sending warnings and reminders as we approach that number, but I highly recommend you book early to avoid getting left out. Register today!

Our programming committee is already working on the submissions they’ve received, but welcome more submissions! The best way to be involved in a conference is to present programming!

Then look no further!

The Fifth House (E. Michigan Univ’s Harry Potter Book Club & Reading Group) is proud to announce that it will be hosting EXPEDITIOUS, a 1 day Harry Potter Conference, on May 15, 2010 in Ann Arbor, MI! The site has been expanded a little bit to include pages with information on the conference, programming submission guidelines, and registration info! Registration for the conference will open VERY soon, so check back often.

We are already accepting programming submissions, and planning plenty of fun stuff along with the academic presentations, from a pool party, to a ball, to LIVE Wizard Rock! We will also be announcing our Keynote Speaker, wizard rock band performances, and other FANTASTIC things we have in store!
